The government today said that the total production of wheat in the country is expected to be about 95.76 million tonnes during 2014-2015, according to latest estimates. This is marginally lower than the highest-ever wheat production of 95.76 million tonnes during 2013-2014. Minister of State for Agriculture Mohanbhai Kundaria said in the Rajya Sabha today that Uttar Pradesh will be the top producer of wheat this year, with production of over thirty million tonnes.
