Wheat procurement in current Rabi marketing season by various government agencies has crossed 22 lakh tonnes in the country. An official release says, Madhya Pradesh has procured over 19 lakh tonne wheat followed by Haryana of around 2 laks tonne. While, Rajasthan has procured over 51 thousands tonne and Gujarat procured over 21 thousands tonne of wheat. The release also said that the procurement in Punjab, the major wheat procuring state is expected to pick up after Vaishakhi.
