Western Railway plans to install CCTV cameras in women's coaches of Mumbai local trains

The Western Railway has embarked on a new initiative to install closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in women's coaches of Mumbai local trains. Speaking to media persons in Mumbai, a Western Railway official said that CCTVs have been installed in a coach on trial basis and if successful, the project will be rolled out in other ladies coaches in a month.

He said CCTVs will deter criminals from entering ladies coaches and once trials are over, the Railway will start the bidding process and as per the plan it will install three to four CCTVs in each first-class and second-class ladies coach.
