West Indies, Zimbabwe record emphatic victories against their rivals in WC Cricket

In the ICC Cricket World Cup, the West Indies and Zimbabwe recorded emphatic victories against their rivals. In a Group 'B' Day-Night encounter at the Feroze Shah Kotla Ground in New Delhi yesterday, the West Indies crushed the Netherlands by 215 runs. The highlight of the win was the hat-trick by West Indian bowler Kemar Roach, the first in the tournament. It is also the sixth in the history of the World Cup. Roach finished with six wickets 27 runs in 8.3 overs. Sent in to bat, the West Indies made 330 for 8 in their 50 overs. Opener Chris Gayle top-scored with a fine 80. The Caribbean side then bundled out the hapless-looking Dutch team for a paltry 115 in 31.3 overs. Earlier in the Group-A fixture at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground in Nagpur, Zimbabwe beat Canada by 175 runs. Batting first, Zimbabwe made 298 for nine in their 50 overs. Former Zimbabwe captain Tatendu Taibu missed out on his maiden World Cup century by two runs. Zimbabwe then shot out Canada for just 123 in 42.1 overs. Today, Sri Lanka meet Kenya in a Group A Day-Night match at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
