West Bengal Transport Department has decided to change the colour of Taxis within Kolkata city into blue and white.Apart from this, the Transport Department has decided to issuea 12-point directive for Taxi owners and drivers.The Taxi drivers will have to wear clean uniforms and Taxi numbers should be legible from a distance of 200 meters. No refusal to passengers and decent behaviour are also part of the directives.The Taxis will also have to use tamper-proof electronic meters to stop manipulation of meters. Black smoke from Taxis has to be stopped. West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra told news persons in Kolkata today that a control room will be set-up in the Transport Department to check whether all these instructions are being followed or not.
