West Bengal: Seven-days complete lockdown begins throughout state today to contain spread of Coronavirus

In West Bengal, complete lockdown has begun this morning throughout the state today to contain the spread of Corona infections. The State Government has announced seven days complete lockdown on 8th, 20th, 21st, 27th, 28th and 31st of this month besides today in view of rapid increase of COVID cases.<br />''<br />''AIR correspondent reports that strong Police pickets have been deployed at different parts of the state to monitor the situation. Public and Private transport are off the road. Flight operations from Netaji Subash Chandra Bose International airport and Bagdogra airport have also been suspended. <br />''<br />''Barring services of essential commodities most of the shops and establishments, Banks, Post Offices, Government and Private offices are also closed. Police have detained a number of persons for violating the norms of lockdown and not wearing masks.<br />''         <br />''According to the latest report of the Health Department, 54 persons  died of the Corona infections in the last 24 hours in the state. Record number of 2,752 people were infected by the virus during the period.<br />
