West Bengal has received six lakhs 89 thousand doses of COVID vaccine from Serum Institute, Pune and it is being distributed to the districts. AIR correspondent reports that after getting the first consignment of nearly seven lakh doses of Covishield vaccine yesterday, officials of the State Health Department are now gearing up for the first phase of immunization on 16th January. Required doses have already been dispatched to the districts. More than six lakh COVID Warriors and frontline workers have registered themselves for this drive. Vaccination will be done from 941 cold chain points across West Bengal.<b></b><br />''<br />''The Director of State Health Services Dr. Ajay Chakraborty told AIR News that vaccines will roll out from all medical colleges, district and sub-divisional hospitals and super-specialty hospitals across West Bengal.<br />''   <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Meanwhile, the total number of active COVID cases in West Bengal has come down to seven thousand three hundred and 92.  Eight hundred and seventy nine people were discharged yesterday, taking the percentage of recovery to 96.91 in the state.
