In West Bengal, 4 jawans of the Eastern Frontier Rifle were shot dead by Maoist at Gidhni Bazar under Jamboni police station in West Midnapur district this evening. The State Home Secretary Mr.Ardhendu Sen told AIR that Maoist attacked the security forces when they were patrolling in the market area. Maoist also looted arms from the security forces. Heavy exchange of fire between Maoist and Security forces were also reported after the incident. Our Correspondent Arijit Chakraborty reports that strong police contingent have been deployed in the area. The attack came as a big blow after the Chief Minister Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacharjee’s visit today to the West Midnapur district in an attempt to boost up the local administration to flush out Maoist from the area and to give push to the ongoing developmental works there.
