The West Bengal Government on Thursday passed a bill in the Legislative Assembly called the West Bengal Land Acquisition Laws (Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2011 which aims to give adequate compensation to farmers whose land has been acquired in the last few years.The bill was placed before the house in the absence of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by the leader of the ruling legislative party Partha Chattopadhyay. He said that, about 5000 farmers will benefit from bill and the work of disbursing the compensation package will be finished by the end of 2015.
