West Bengal Health Department issues new guidelines regarding adherence of oxygen therapy protocol

AIR correspondent reports, as the demand for oxygen rises due to upsurge in COVID cases, the State Health Department reviewed and issued a guideline to ensure proper utilization of the same. It stated that the general tendency of overuse of oxygen leads to artificial crises and stressed upon the meticulous monitoring of oxygen therapy. It instructed the doctors to mention the appropriate device and initial oxygen flow rate in the prescription and the on duty nursing staff to monitor the saturation level. <br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">It has fixed the responsibility of an assistant superintendent for management of supply and stock of oxygen along with rational use of the same while a nursing officer will be in charge for oxygen management of all COVID patients in a hospital. The State Government also started building oxygen plants in hospitals across districts. </span><br />
