The West Bengal Government is considering to set up a gas based power plant in Durgapur at Burdwan district of the state. The State Power Secretary Mr. Malay Dey said that the size of the plant will be between 100 MW to 300 MW. He said that the government is considering for setting up gas based power plant taking into account the prospects of coal bed methane production in the Durgapur – Asansol region.The project will be set up under Private – Public Partnership model. An official said that around 5500 standard cubic meters of gas supply will be required per day for setting up a 200 MW plant.
