West Bengal Governor Narayanan visits Natai Village near Lalgarh

The West Bengal Governor M K. Narayanan Wednesday visited Natai Village near Lalgarh in West Midnapore district, where nine people were killed in firing from on alleged CPI-M armed camp on the seventh of this month, to assess the situation.Mr. Narayanan went to the house from where shots were fire and talked to the relatives of some of those killed.The Governor had summoned State Chief Secretary Mr. Samar Ghosh a few days back, to discuss the law and order situation in the state post-Netai firing.The villagers demanded punishment to the culprits and removal of all camps except police and joint forces camps, besides a police picket in Netai. The Governor talked to the aggrieved people and offered condolence to the victims’ kin.West Midnapore District Magistrate Subhendu Gupta, Superintendent of Police M K Varma and Jhargram District Superintendent of Police Pravin Kumar were present.Mr. Narayanan held talks with members of the victims’ families separately.Before leaving for Jhalda in Purulia, where six Forward Block activists were killed by Maoists in the last week of December, Mr. Narayanan said that he went to take stock of the law and order situation in Netai and will submit a report to Delhi.
