West Bengal government imposes new curbs amid Omicron threat; Covid-19 vaccination of 15-18 years age group begins from 3rd Jan

<span style="color: #222222;">In West Bengal, Covid-19 vaccination of 15-18 years age group has started from today. Vaccination is going on at one school each across 479 blocks and Urban Local Bodies along with 338 hospitals. Though all educational institutions including schools are closed today due to the recent surge in Covid cases across the state, vaccination programmes will continue. In Kolkata, all medical colleges, 37 upper primary health centres, and one school each in 16 boroughs are administering vaccines to young adults.<br />''<br />''Meanwhile, strict restrictions are put in place till 15th January to check the spread of Covid-19. Apart from closing educational institutions, salons, spas, swimming pools, beauty parlours, zoos, and entertainment parks have also been shut down. Local trains will operate till 7 pm with 50 percent capacity while the last Metro services from terminal stations will be available at 9 pm and no tokens will be issued. Shopping malls, market complexes, restaurants and bars, cinema halls, and theaters will be allowed to function with up to 50 percent capacity till 10 pm.<br />''<br />''Government and private offices have been asked to encourage work from home as far as possible.
