West Bengal Government has decided to extend lockdown in the Containment zones till Sunday in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases. This will come into effect from today.<br />'' <br />''Earlier, State Government had announced strict lockdown in Containment Zones for a week which began on Thursday. In an order issued by State Home Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay, the lockdown will be operational in and around Kolkata and in the towns of Malda, Jalpaiguri, Raigunj, Siliguri and Cooch Behar.<br />'' <br />''Meanwhile, 1,390 people tested positive for Corona in the State during the last 24 hours. With this, the total cases in the state has gone up to 32,838. Another 24 people died of the disease yesterday taking the total number of deaths to 980.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Around 12 thousand Corana positive patients are under treatment at different hospitals in the State while nearly 20 thousand patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovery. The rate of recovery stands at 61 percent now.</span><br />
