The West Bengal Government has decided to raise a special force to tackle the naxal menace in the state. <br/><br/>Initially about nine hundred personnels will be recruited and an amount of 25 crore rupees has been sanctioned for the force. A committee to probe into the recent Maoists attack at Silda in which 24 securitymen were killed. Announcing this in Kolkata, Chief Minsiter, Buddhadev Bhattacharya asserted that operation of joint force will continue despite brutal act of of Maoists on securitymen. <br/><br/>The Chief Minister admitted that there was a definite lack of alertness on the part of the fort which led to massacare.<br/><br/>AIR Kolkata Correspondent reports that exchange of fire between Joint forces and maoists is now on at Lalgarh in West Midnapore district of West Bengal following Silda attack.<br/><br/><br/>In Bihar, the death toll rose to 12 in the maoist attack at Phulwaria- Korasi village of Jamui district. State Home Secretary Aamir Subhani told this to AIR news. Heavily-armed ultras stormed the village last night and fired indiscriminately. They also burnt over 30 thatched houses and over one dozen cattle were burnt alive.<br/><br/>A massive combing operation is on to nab the Maoists. Additional Director General of Police U.S. Dutta told our correspondent that it is a kind of revenge killing for the villagers refusal to toe the line of Naxals.<br/> <br/>In Jharkhand, accepting a key demand of Maoists for the safe release of the abducted BDO, Chief Minister Shibu Soren said, the legal process has been set in motion to free some of the jailed Maoists. The Chief Minister also appealed to the Maoists to set free the abducted BDO Prashant Kumar Layak at the earliest. Layak was kidnapped from the West Singbhum district, a couple of days ago.
