<span style="color: #222222;">The West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee has urged the Prime Minister to pass necessary Constitutional amendments for renaming the State as BANGLA in the current session of Parliament. </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' In a letter to Mr. Narendra Modi today Ms. Banerjee said that people of the state are seeking a change in the name of the state since last few years. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">She said, name of the state invoke a strong sense of identity in its people and this identity can be formed if the state's name carries the signature of its history and authentic culture. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Ms. Banerjee mentioned in her letter all advices of the Government of India have been accepted by the state for getting the change in the name of the state and it could be adopted in the Parliament. </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Our Kolkata Correspondent reports that the State Assembly adopted an unanimous resolution for changing the name of the state from West Bengal to Bangla in English, Hindi and Bengali in July last year.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Earlier, the Union Minister of the State for Home Affairs Mr. Nityananda Rai informed the Rajya Sabha today that Constitutional Amendment is required for changing the name of the state. </span><br />''
