In West Bengal, the four day long Durga Puja festival comes to an end today. This follows celebration of Vijaya Dashmi with traditional fervour. Vijaya Dashmi is being celebrated throughout West Bengal with the immersion of Durga Idols. People are exchanging greetings and sweets to each other on the occasion of Vijaya Dashmi. Special security measures have been made at various river banks for immersion of Durga idols. Large crowd have been gathered at Babughat in Kolkata to witness the immersion. West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation has organised special launch trip on the river Ganges to watch immersion. State Pollution Control Board is also very much vigilant against the pollution of the rivers caused by the immersion of idols. The immersion of Durga idols began this evening.
