West Asia region celebrating Eid al-adha

People across the West Asia region are celebrating Eid al-adha, the festival of sacrifice today, which marks the culmination of Haj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. Haj Pilgrims are performing the ritual of symbolic stoning of Devil in Jamarat in Mina. Saudi authorities have made arrangements to ease the traffic flow in the Jamarat area where stone-throwing ritual is being performed at three pillars that symbolize the devil. More than 1 lakh 70 thousand Indians are among more than 25 lakh pilgrims who are performing the rituals in Saudi Arabia. A 30-member Haj goodwill delegation headed by Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High court, Justice Nisar Ahmad Kakru is also accompanying the Indian pilgrims. Consul Haj of the Indian Consulate at Jeddah, B.S. Mubarak told Prasar Bharti that necessary administrative arrangements are in place to serve the Indian pilgrims.
