Wellington Test: New Zealand 571/6 at stumps on Day 4

Riding a record sixth wicket partnership between Brendon McCullum and BJ Watling, New Zealand cruised to 571 for six at stumps on Day 4 of the Wellington Test, taking a 325-run lead over India. McCullum, 281 not out and Watling 124 took the hosts to a comfortable position, stitching up 352 runs for the sixth wicket, the highest by any pair in Test cricket. As, game entering fifth day of play, Skipper Brendon McCullum will be eyeing to surpass New Zealand's previous best test score of 299 by Martin Crowe in 1991 and also a first Triple century for New Zealand. The Kiwi captain have been dropped twice, first on 9, and then on 36.For India, Mohammed Shami brought some respite as he trapped Watling LBW in the last session. However, the momentum of the hosts did not break. McCullum, with Jimmy Neesham at the crease, scored a quickfire 100-run partnership. The day ended as Neesham on 67 and McCullum at 281 at crease.At present, Zaheer Khan is the highest wicket taker for India with 3 wickets.Earlier in the first innings, New Zealand had made 192, replying to which India made 438. New Zealand is already leading the 2-match series, 1-0.
