Weightlifting holds medal prospects for India at CWG games

After a dazzling opening ceremony last night, the events of the Commonwealth Games have started today. 20 medals will be up for grabs on day one. India ifigures in 10 of 12 events happening today. Our correspondent reports that C mmonwealth games action is on and India's presence is evident in 10 events today. India's Badminton mixed teams is playing it's first group stage match against Ghana, their second match will be followed later tonight against Uganda. In round 1 of Lawn Ball India's Men's triples are playing against Scotland and Women's fours team is up against Fiji. The matches are in progress. In Table Tennis, the Indian Women's team match against Barbados is underway and they will slug it out against Nigeria later tonight. The medal prospects for India are coming in the weightlifting event today. Talking about the players Malay Neerav, a senior sports journalist says the road for Khumukcham Sanjita and Saikhom Mirabai Chanu looks promising as they will be seen in action in the Women's 48 kg division, while men will have a tough day out.Squash, Gymnastics, Judo, Cycling and Swimming will also see India's participation later in the evening.
