In weightlifting, Akanksha Vyvahare has won a silver medal for India in the Youth World Championships in Mexico today.

Akanksha won the medal in the Women's 40 kg category. She finished first in the Snatch portion of the event, lifting 59 kg, and third in the Clean and Jerk section, lifting 68 kg, earning her the silver medal with a total of 127 kg.

Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has congratulated Akansha Vyavhare on her feat. In a tweet, Mr Thakur said he is proud to see country's youth bring laurels to the nation.
