Weeklong 7th session of 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly begins

A weeklong seventh session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, which is also the budget session, began today with Governor R N Ravi addressing the members of the House.<br />'' <br />''Governor Ravi in his address said, the ongoing negotiations between the Government of India and the Naga groups over the past many years have been concluded and need to move speedily for the final solution.<br />'' <br />''He said while fighting the COVID-19 pandemic remained one of the most important missions of the Government for the past many months, the early solution of a long drawn out Naga political issue also continued to remain the focus.<br />'' <br />''Governor Ravi also expressed gratitude to all the health care workers, frontline workers and other mass-based organizations for their determination and selfless services in battling against the COVID-19 pandemic.<br />'' <br />''Following the Governor's address, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Speaker Sharingain Longkumer made obituary reference to former President Pranab Mukerjee, former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, former Governor of Nagaland Aswhini Kumar, former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi and former Nagaland Minister C M Chang. The members observed one minute silence in honour of the departed leaders.<br />'' <br />''Meanwhile, Advisor Namri Nchang moved the motion of thanks to the Governor's address. Later, the Speaker adjourned the House till Monday.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The Budget for the year 2021-2022 will be presented on February 18, which would be taken up for consideration and passage on the last day of the session on 20th February.</span><br />
