<span style="color: #222222;">In the wake of rising cases of Covid 19 and tracing of UK strain in the Union Territory<b> </b>Chandigarh has enforced weekend lockdown starting from 10:00 PM today till 05:00 AM on Monday.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The decision was taken in the meeting of Chandigarh Administration, medical officers and others presided over by Punjab  Governor and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, VP Singh Badnore today.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">An official spokesperson said that the residents will stay indoor during the lockdown period.  Only essential activities and home delivery of food will be allowed.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">During the lockdown period, those going for appearing in examination and those on examination duties will be allowed movement on production of admit or identity cards. All inter-state travelers will be allowed on all days including lockdown period.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Chandigarh administration has also announced certain restrictions like closure of Gymnasiums and Spas till April 30. The cinema halls can run with 50% capacity and all government offices will function with 50% of staff till April 30. There will be a ban on social, cultural, political, religious events also. The Museums, Libraries, Coaching Institutions etc. will remain closed.  However, online coaching will be permitted.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The existing limit of gatherings in permitted functions will be reduced to 100 outdoor and 50 indoor. The transport buses will run with 50% capacity only. There will be screening of all visitors to the city at airport, railway station, ISBT.</span><br />''  <br />
