The onset of Monsoon over Kerala is likely to be slightly delayed this year. According to India Meteorological Department Director B.P. Yadav, the southwest monsoon is likely to set over Kerala on 7th June.<br/><br/>The normal monsoon onset date is June 1 when it reaches the state. The Met department has forecast above normal monsoon this year.<br/><br/>The MeT depatment has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands tomorrow. It said, squally wind speeds reaching 50' to 60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph likely along and off Tamilnadu coast. It has advised the fishermen not to venture into the sea along and off Tamilnadu coast. It also predicted heavy rainfall in all north-eastern states and Lakshadweep. In its forecast, the MeT department said, thunderstorm accompanied with squall likely at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh and duststorm or thunderstorm accompanied with squall likely at isolated places over north Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. It said, heat wave conditions will continue at a few places over Vidarbha and at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, north Rajasthan, Gujarat region, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.<br/><br/>The Weatherman said that conditions are becoming favourable for onset of southwest monsoon over Nicobar Islands, south Andaman sea and parts of south Bay of Bengal.
