Minister of State for Science and Technology Prithviraj Chavan has underlined the need for disseminating accurate data about weather prediction to the people. <br/> <br/>Speaking at a workshop on Weather and Climate information, Chavan said that favourable weather condition is crucial for the economic growth of the country. <br/> <br/>He said the Government has initiated one thousand crore rupee programme for modernising the Indian Meteorological Department for better forecast. He said under this programme automatic weather stations in different parts of the country are being set up for providing accurate data. <br/> <br/>He said a chain of Doppler Radar system are also being set up in the coastal areas for better observation of the weather conditions. <br/> <br/> <br/> <br/> <br/><br/>
