Foreign Secretary Dr S Jaishankar has said that outer space is an expanding frontier of exploration and all space-faring countries should protect it as heritage and must prevent its weaponization. <br/><br/>Addressing the valedictory session of International seminar on Indian space programme in New Delhi this evening, Mr Jaishankar said, international cooperation is critical in the space domain and Chandrayaan-I is a good example of the cooperation. <br/><br/>He said, Indian Space Programme has truly become people's programme. The Foreign Secretary said, South Asia Satellite reflects India's neighbourhood first policy. He said, India has 200 programmes with over 40 countries on space programmes. <br/><br/>Mr Jaishankar said, space sector has come of age with rapid strides in PSLV, GSLV and GSLV Mark III and having potential in economic growth and development of the country. <br/><br/>He said that industry, government and entrepreneurs have to work in tandem to realize the Prime Minister's vision of leaving no space between Common Man and Space.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO A S Kiran Kumar said that India has set new benchmarks in the era of space technology in various areas such as Space Application development, Space science, Satellite sub-system co-creation and Space Infrastructure.
