Cyclone Laila weakened into a well-marked low pressure area and stationary over north coastal Andhra Pradesh.<br/><br/>According to Met authorities it may now trigger heavy rain in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts besides some parts of Telangana region. However, possibility of Laila remerging in the northern Bay of Bengal by 24th of this month is not ruled out.<br/><br/>The death toll rose to 23 due to the cyclone while three are missing. Heavy rains also damaged over 20,000 hectares of crops and horticulture crops. A report of detailed enumeration of loses is awaited.<br/><br/>Most parts of Orissa also received heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours under the impact of Laila. Even as it has weakened into a well marked low pressure, the Bhubaneswar Metrological Office has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at most places over south Orissa and at many places over north Orissa in the next 24 hours.<br/><br/>Signal no 3 has been hoisted in all the ports of the state and fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, people have started going back to their homes from the relief camps in the worst-hit Prakasam, Nellore , Guntur and Krishna districts. Chief Minister K Rosaiah, will undertake an aerial survey of cyclone-hit areas today while relief operations are underway in full swing.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the state authorities heaved a sigh of relief as the danger posed by Laila is averted to the state.<br/><br/>Chief Minister K Rosaiah has, however, directed the district collectors to be on alert for two more days as heavy rain is likely to continue in some parts of the state especially in Khammam and Warangal. Health officials were instructed to be cautious as epidemics might break out in the rain-hit areas.
