India said it is committed to deliver the best ever Commonwealth Games as New Delhi gets ready to host the sporting extravaganza next year. Organising Committee Chairman Mr. Suresh Kalmadi and the sports Secretary Mrs. Sindhushree Khullar represented India at the Sports Breakfast during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Port of Spain. India outlined Delhi's preparations for the Games and the expected benefits for itself and the Commonwealth countries. He said ,New Delhi is also working towards reducing the carbon footprint to establish the first ever green Commonwealth Games and thus become the benchmark for all multi-disciplinary games in the future. Asked about the preparations of the Games, he said that the process to hand over the stadia will start in January and will be completed in a phased manner.With regard to traffic problems,Mrs. Khullar said elaborate and meticulous plans are being worked out by the Delhi Traffic Police and athletes will be ferried in a dedicated lane. Also, the Delhi government will declare a holiday on October 14, for the closing ceremony, to reduce traffic on roads.On Differences with the Commonwealth Games President Michael Fennell,Mr. Kalmadi said that they have come out with a joint statement saying they would work together as a partner.
