Twice world cup winner Argentina will face Uruguay in a world cup qualifying match later tonight. Argentina must win or atleast draw to qualify for the 2010 world cup finals. After a disastrous start to their campaign for a berth in the South African edition next year, Argentina is desperately seeking to win and take the fourth place from the group to qualify for the final. Brazil, Paraguay and Chile have already qualified for the 2010 world cup.Diego Maradona's Argentina are among the elite sides clamouring for qualification on a dramatic night of action. Argentina grabbed a vital win on Saturday, but their fate will be decided later tonight. If they ship they will be mere spectators in South Africa. Brazil, Paraguay and Chile have filled three of the four automatic qualification spots in South America qualifying. The Albicelestes have only failed to qualify once, in 1970. They have reached every other World Cup and, of course, have lifted the famous trophy twice, in 1978 and 1986. But, with Diego Maradona at the helm, they are in a precarious position with one game to go. Wednesday night's Uruguay v/s Argentina game is effectively a play off for the fourth and final automatic qualification spot in South America. The winners will qualify or, if it is a draw, Argentine will qualify unless Ecuador win by at least five clear goals away to already qualified Chile. For soccer lovers across the globe and India in particular an Argentinean exit will be hard to swallow.
