A row between FIFA, the governing body of football, and Brazil over arrangements for the World Cup in 2014 appears to have worsened. The Brazilian President has asked to meet the head of FIFA. Brazil wants FIFA to relent rules for TV broadcasting rights and discounted tickets. FIFA has repeatedly warned the Brazilian orgnisers of the World Cup about delays in work on stadia and infrastructure regarding the tournament. Football's world governing body expects total control on all aspects of the event which the Brazilian government is reluctant to accept.
