South Africa registered a thumping 131-run win over Ireland in a Cricket World Cup Group 'B' match in Kolkata today. The Proteas became the first team to qualify for the quarter-finals from the Group with eight points. In the Day-Night match at the historic Eden Gardens, chasing a challenging target of 273, Ireland were all out for 141 in 33.2 overs. Earlier, put into bat, South Africa recovered after a top order collapse, to make 272 for seven in their 50 overs. J.P. Duminy who made 99 runs for the winners was declared the Man of the Match. In their sixth and last match, South Africa will take on Bangladesh on Saturday in Mirpur. Ireland are out of the quarter-final race with only two points from five games. They will face the Netherlands in their last inconsequential group match in Kolkata on Friday. Tomorrow, Australia are scheduled to meet Canada in Bangalore.All India Radio will broadcast live commentary on the Day-Night Group-A match.
