A high-level meeting presided by the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacharjee took place at the State Secretariat, the Writers’ Buildings in Kolkata today to discuss the present political situation in the State, particularly in the Maoists affected areas of West Bengal. The meeting also reviewed the security deployment in these areas. Apart from the Chief Minister, the meeting was attended by the State Chief Secretary, Mr. Ashok Mohan Chakraborty, the Home Secretary Ardhendu Sen, the Director General of Police, Mr. Bhupinder Singh and the Inspector General (Law & Order), Mr. Surajit Kar Purakayasta. The law and order situation and development activities of the Maoists infested three-district of Purulia, Bankura and West Midnapore were discussed thread-bear in the meeting, apart from the functioning of the joint forces of the Centre and the State. It was decided that the Chief Minister will tour the area on the 7th & 8th of this month to take stock of the security situation and the Government sponsored development activities in the region.
