The World Bank is to finance 8 million dollars for the Decentralized Watershed Development Project in Uttarakhand. Center has signed for this with International Development Association – IDA. The agreement will facilitate the credit for the farmers of the state to set up their micro agro – businesses and boost rural incomes. While signing the agreement, Joint Secretary in Ministry of Finance Venu Rajamony said that the agreement is critical for achieving the planned 10 percent increase in rural incomes in project areas by the end of the implementation period. According to a mid-term survey by the government agencies, real income in the rural households in the state has grown up by seven percent, two percent higher than the projected target of five percent. The increase has been driven by farm income growth which is twice the non-farm income growth in the current period.
