The CPI (M) says West Bengal Unit will conduct a review of its poor performance in the recently held civic body polls .The Polit bureau decided that the party will take necessary steps to win back confidence of those sections of electorate who have moved away from the party after the report is received. Condemning the alleged attacks by Trinamool Congress and its allies in West Bengal during the polls, the party appealed all democratic forces to condemn all such acts. Top party leaders from West Bengal including the Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Nirupam Sen did not attend the meeting of the highest policy making body of the party. A Press communiqu’ issued after the meeting said that any increase in the prices of petroleum products at this time is totally unwarranted. The Politburo sought action taken report from the government on the implementation of the Ranganath Mishra Commission report which provides for reservation in educational institutions and jobs in the country. <br/> Describing the recent attacks on a passenger train in West Midnapore district of West Bengal as a terrorist attack the party asserted that this exposes the true face of Maoists and called for firm action to deter such violent attacks in future. <br/> The CPI (M) Polit Bureau demanded a full fledged probe into the alleged scam in the IPL saying that the matter cannot be disposed by conducting some routine enquiries. The party discussed the outline of the draft document for the extended meeting of the Central Committee to be held in Vijayawada in August. <br/> The Polit Bureau has also expressed its strong condemnation and outrage at the attacks by Israeli forces on the ships carrying humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza.<br/>
