WB: Ruling Left to review performance in civic body polls

Preparation of a draft to review the political decisions after 2007 and the defeat of the party in the civic body polls in West Bengal remained the focus of discussions in the two day CPIM Polit Bureau meeting. The meeting which concluded this evening decided to hold another session next month to outline the draft resolution to be presented in the extended meeting of the Central Committee in Vijayawada in August. According to a press communiqu’ issued by the party the Polit Bureau reviewed the preliminary report that was presented in the meeting on the party's debacle in the West Bengal civic body polls. Our correspondent reports that the West Bengal Chief Minister Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and senior party leader Nirupam Sen did not attend the meeting.

AIR Correspondent reports:
"The message from the Polit Bureau meeting is clear that the party will adopt a strategy to win back the confidence of those sections of electorate who have moved away from the party. The focus of the party on the implementation of the Ranganath Mishra Commission report on the welfare of minorities needs to be seen in this light. Senior party leader Nilotpal Basu gave an over view of the issues taken up in the meeting.
With party already suffering huge reverses in its bastion of West Bengal, it has vey less time for having a political strategy in place as assembly elections in the State are due next year.’
