WB rules out CBI probe over recent police firing at Simchu

The West Bengal Government has ruled out CBI probe over recent police firing at Simchu in Jalpaiguri District in which 2 Gorkha Janamukti Morcha supporters were killed. The State Home secretary Mr. G. D. Goutam said in Kolkata today that Magisterial enquiry has already been started over the incident and there is no scope of CBI inquiry over it now. Mr. Goutam commented that the process to settle the Darjeeling crisis through tripartite talks at Delhi will be disrupted due to violent activities of the Morcha supporters in the hills and adjoining areas. Meanwhile, the normal life was affected in the Darjeeling hills for the 2nd day today due to indefinite strike called by the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha demanding CBI probe over police action.
