In West Bengal, over 75 percent polling was recorded for in the fourth phase of Assembly polls covering East Midnapur, Howrah, Hoogly and parts of Burdwan districts till 5 P.M. today. The percentage is likely to go up as many people are still waiting at different booths to cast their franchise. The voting was by and large peaceful barring few stray incidents. The Additional Chief Electoral officer Mr. N. K. Sahana told our Kolkata Correspondent that 171 electronic voting machines were replaced from various polling booths due to technical snag. Two presiding officers and two polling officers were removed from duties for violation of model code of conduct and for illness. Boycott of votes were also reported from three polling booths in Howrah and Burdwan on local issues.Police have made sixty-nine preventive arrests so far.
