In West Bengal, campaigning for first phase of Assembly poll in the State has reached to its feverish pitch. The first phase will cover 54 seats constituencies in six North Bengal districts. Polling will be held on Monday. 364 candidates are in the fray. AIR Kolkata Correspondent reports that preparations are on to ensure free and fair voting. Tight security arrangements have been made to maintain law and order. Campaigning in Falaka in Jalpaiguri District in west Bengal, BJP leader L.K.Advani said the Left Front government has not done anything in the state during its 34-years rule. He alleged that the condition of roads, health services, education, and drinking water is in bad shape.Central Para-Military Force will be deployed in all the polling booths in Kolkata for Assembly Elections. Giving this information in Kolkata today the State Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Gupta said that adequate security measures have been taken to ensure free & fair voting in Kolkata. Gupta said that one Deputy Commissioner of Police has been made Nodal officer for each 11 constituencies in Kolkata to keep coordination with election observers and returning officers. Around one thousand 4 hundred polling booths will be set up in Kolkata this time. Elections will take place in 75 seats covering Kolkata, North and South 24 Paragana districts on 27th of this month.
