WB polls: 387 candidates fill nominations for first phase

In West Bengal altogether 387 candidates have filled nominations for first phase Assembly elections in the State. The filling of nomination for this phase came to an end this afternoon. The Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on Saturday while last day for withdrawal of candidature is 4th of April. The voting will take place in 54 seats covering six North Bengal districts in first phase on 18th of next month. Meanwhile, filling of nominations are also on for Second phase poll in the State. Altogether 14 nominations were filled so far. The second phase Elections will be held in 50 seats in Murshidabad, Nadia and Birbhum districts on 23rd April. Our Kolkata correspondent reports that campaigning is gradually picking up. Chief Minister Mr. Buddhadev Bhattacharjee took part in a public rally at his constituency in Jadavpur area this afternoon. The Trinamul Congress Chief Miss Mamata Banerjee also took part in a Padayatra in Kolkata.
