In West Bengal over 75 percent polling was recorded in six Parliamentary seats till 5 P.M today. The polling percentage is around 79 percent in six left wing extremism affected Assembly segments where voting was ended at 4 this afternoon.
The State Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Sunil Gupta told in Kolkata that voting was by and large peaceful barring a few stray incidents. He said that polling is still counting in some booths after the schedule voting hours. In the morning a few Electronic Voting Machines were replaced from different polling booths for technical snags.
One Presiding Officer has been removed at Khandoghosh in Burdwan districts for negligence of duties. Clashes between ruling Trinamool Congress and Congress supporters have also been reported from the area. Two persons were arrested at Pandabeshwar in Burdwan Districts for beating a handicapped voter.
