Today is Maha Navami, the last day of the Durga Puja celebrations. People are thronging the Puja pandals all over West Bengal. AIR correspondent reports, People are offering prayers and floral tributes Anjali to goddess Durga on the occasion of Navami. AIR Kolkata Correspondent reports that officials of the pollution control board are also monitoring the city's community puja pandals to check for any violation of pollution norms, including sound pollution. While the entire Jharkhand is celebrating Navratra and Durga Puja, Ho tribes in Singhbhum district of Jharkhand celebrate ‘Dasai’- a festival to enhance spiritual power and save the community from evil. During this festival, celebrated in September -October, youths in traditional dresses assemble in ‘Akhara’ and perform traditional dance. They also visit different villages to collect food grains for preparing ‘Bhog'(offering) for the deity.
