In West Bengal, the Government appointed interlocutors for talks with Maoists, has decided to stay away from their responsibilities. In a communication to the State Chief Minister, Ms Mamata Banerjee, they said that the prevailing situation in Jungle Mahal does not allow to carry forward peace talks. Out of six Government appointed mediators, five have signed on the communication while another member opined in favour of continuing talks with Maoists.AIR Kolkata correspondent reports that the decision of interlocutors assumed significance following recent death of top Maoist leader Kishenji. The West Bengal Government has initiated probe over the death of Kishenji following allegations from different circles that the top Maoist leader was shot dead in fake encounter with security forces.
