CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan has admitted that some policies of West Bengal Government did not find favour with the people resulting in devastating defeat for the left coalition in the recent <br/> <br/>Municipal elections in the state. Speaking at the ‘Meet the Press’ programme held by the Andhra Pradesh State Working Journalists Union in Hyderabad, he said the industrialisation at the cost of fertile agriculture land and prioritisation for chemical hubs and Car factories were proved the West Bengal Government wrong. <br/><br/>Stating that the left front in West Bengal should introspect for the reasons for their defeat, he said it would be an uphill task to win the ensuing assembly election. <br/> <br/>On the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, Bardhan demanded that all the responsible including the Union Carbide Chairman Warson Anderson to be booked and brought to the Indian Court. <br/> <br/>Stating that Justice has not only denied to the victims after 26 years as meagre punishment pronounce to few culprits, he demanded enactment of new law to prevent such industrial accidents and also to hold responsible the head of the MNC in such cases. <br/> <br/>Responding to a question, he said CPI would oppose the proposed Nuclear Liability Bill in the parliament. <br/> <br/>On Food security bill, he advocated for implementation of Universal Public Distribution System irrespective of the Below Poverty Line to provide nutritious food to all at an affordable cost. <br/><br/>
