West Bengal Government has decided to provide subsidy of 33 crore rupees on fertiliser. Announcing this in Kolkata yesterday the State Finance Minister Dr. Amit Mitra said that the decision has been taken to curb price rise of food items and to provide some relief to the farmers. Dr. Mitra also said that the State Government is also ready to bear the secondary freight subsidy on urea to ensure that the traders do not charge in excess of maximum written price. The Finance Minister also announced setting-up of 78 centres for ensuring that farmers get the minimum support price for paddy in the Kharif season.
