WB govt sends its reply to EC on transfer of six senior officers

The West Bengal government has sent its reply to the Election Commission on its yesterday's order for transferring of six senior officers of the District Administration in the state.

A copy of the letter was also sent to the Chief Electoral Officer of the state Mr. Sunil Gupta this morning.

The Commission in its order yesterday transferred one District Magistrate, 2 Additional District Magistrates and five Superintendent of Police for negligence of duties and their partisan role.

The Commission had directed the West Bengal government to comply with the order by 11 this morning. The Chief Minister Ms. Mamta Bangeree criticized the Election Commission's action and said that she will not comply with the order.

Terming the decision of the Commission as unilateral Ms. Banerjee said that she is ready to face any consequences for the non-compliance of the order. Ms. Banerjee also threatened legal re-course against the commission order.
