WB Govt. rules out negligence for death of 21 babies in Kolkata hospital

The West Bengal Government has admitted lack of infrastructure in the B.C.Roy Childrens hospital in Kolkata for the death of 21 babies in last three days. State Health Secretary M.N.Roy said that there was no negligence on the part of treatment of those babies. Roy said that most of the victims came to the hospital at the very last stage with acute respiratory trouble, septicemia and low birth weight problem. Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee, who also hold the Health portfolio ordered an inquiry over the death of babies and the inquiry committee has submitted its report to the Government today. The Health Secretary informed that a special unit for new born babies, blood bank and other infrastructural facilities will be created at the hospital soon.
