The Center today alleged that the West Bengal Government is not utilising the funds meant for welfare of the people of the State. Addressing an election rally in South 24 Pargana District for the third phase of polls scheduled on Wednesday, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said, the State Government has failed to spend 1000 crore rupees central grant for various developmental projects. He said, the tempest of change which started in North Bengal will turn into Cyclone Aila in South Bengal and will uproot the Left-Front government.On the other hand, the State Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya said, the Left Front is seeking continuous 8th term on the basis of good governance. Addressing the media in Kolkata, he said, the Left Front has presented an agenda before the people with focus on agricultural development, industrialization and improved Public Distribution System with rice at two rupees per kg for the poor. Mr. Bhattacharya alleged that a lot of black money is flowing into the coffers of Trinamool Congress and asked the Election Commission to take note of it.Trinamool Congress Chief Mamta Banerjee has asked her supporters not to get provoked by what she termed baseless charges by the Left Front leaders. Addressing a public meeting at Garia in South 24 Pargana, she asked the people to rise to the occasion and vote for change. BJP General Secretary Ravi Shankar Prasad said, the left front will loose power as people are fed up with the slow pace of progress in the state. Addressing the media in Kolkata, he said, West Bengal has come down several notches in the Development Index released recently. He also alleged that the Election Commission is not allowing his party leaders to campaign freely in the state and is creating hurdles. The State Party President Rahul Sinha is sitting on dharna before the state electoral office on this issue. Meanwhile, campaigning is in full swing in all the 75 seats in Kolkata, North and South 24 Pargana districts going to polls on Wednesday.
