The West Bengal State Government has launched a new housing scheme for people Below the Poverty Line (BPL) called ‘Ashray’. Inaugurating the scheme at Barasat in the North 24-Parganas in the State, the Finance Minister, Dr. Asim Dasgupta said that the State Government has allotted one thousand crore rupees for the project in the current financial year. Of this five hundred crore rupees each have been allocated for rural and urban areas. Dr. Dasgupta said that the State Government, will though this scheme, provide housing for fifty thousand people.<br/>
