The West Bengal State Government has issued a blanket ban on the use of Kolkata’s Salt Lake Stadium (Yuba Bharati Krirangan) and the Kshudiram Anusilan Kendra for non-sports programme including cultural shows. Both these Stadia have in the past being used for political and cultural programmes apart from marriage parties.<br/>The State Sports Minister, Mr. Kanti Ganguly said at the State Secretariat, the Writers’ Buildings that a new poly-grass surface has been laid in the Salt Lake Stadium and no programmes other than sports events, would be allowed in it, apart from the event of a national disaster were affected people might be required to be given shelter and accommodation. Mr. Ganguly said that the same rule would be applied in case of Kshudiram Anusilan Kendra also. But he said such non-sports events can be organized in the Netaji Indoor Stadium.<br/>
