In West Bengal, responding to Mamata Banerjee's accusations against the Governor KN Tripathi, Raj Bhavan today came out with a press release, expressing surprise at the "attitude and language" used by the Chief Minister at the media meet yesterday. The release further said the Governor cannot remain a mute spectator of the affairs in the state. <br/><br/>Ms. Banerjee had accused Governor K N Tripathi of insulting and humiliating her. She had also claimed that Mr. Tripathi spoke like a functionary of the BJP, and not like the state's constitutional head.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the opposition parties have criticised the Chief Minister for levelling allegations against the Governor. Left Front legislature party leader Sujan Chakraborty accused the Chief Minister of breaking constitutional norms by bringing out the private conversation into a public forum. State BJP president Dilip Ghosh said the people are forced to go to the Governor due to the Chief Minister's failure to maintain law and order in the state. He said that the incidents of communal violence in the state are occurring frequently now.
